Pantone announced Rose Quartz and Serenity as the colours for 2016. In simple layman english it’s pink and blue ūüôā

Before we move ahead, let me first answer a few questions about Pantone.

Pantone is a standardized color matching system, utilizing the Pantone numbering system for identifying colors. By standardizing the colors, different manufacturers in different locations can all reference a Pantone numbered color, making sure colors match without direct contact with one another.

So how does Pantone choose colours for every year?

Members of the Pantone committee travel extensively. They absorb the colours that are doing the rounds whether in technology, street fashion, upcoming movies or even in politics! Based on this along with their own inputs they predict a colour for the next year. This decision is usually taken in the last month of every year.

Last year Pantone chose ‘Marsala’ to be the colour of 2015.¬†Much like the fortified wine that gives Marsala its name, this tasteful hue embodies the satisfying richness of a fulfilling meal while its grounding red-brown roots emanate a sophisticated, natural earthiness.

This year Pantone caught everyone off guard as they picked two colours for a year since it debuted the designation in 1999. Pantone believes the blend reflects a gender neutrality that has strengthened over the last year or so and is sure to carry through to 2016.

We can’t get over these two colours and have curated a collection just for you. Shop them here and stay ahead of fashion!
