Today I was forwarded a newsletter from Jabong showcasing a new feature – to purchase according to your body type. It doesn’t seem to be available site-wide but was working when clicked from the newsletter. We are happy that Jabong is acknowledging that purchasing by price / color / discounts is not the right way to make apparel purchases and that it should be based on the user’s style preferences and body type. This is probably a first step in educating the user about it.
We have spoken to Jabong in the past and we have Jabong employees using Voonik but we don’t think Voonik would have influenced Jabong in any way. We are just happy that the market leader is taking baby steps to set the purchase experience right and we believe Voonik will benefit from it.
In the future, we hope to see Jabong taking the style preferences of the user into account, launch Voonik features such as “what to pair with” and personalized product descriptions. These will help us realize our vision that fashion should be taken to masses and not just remain in the elite circles.
